Shakeology Prebiotics And Probiotics

Shakeology Ingredients

When I first began drinking Shakeology as a dietary supplement one of the terms that I was not familiar with was prebiotic.  I knew what a probiotic was, but I was unfamilar with the term prebiotic and how it was different from a probiotic and how it functioned.  Since I was on a quest for only the very best food supplements for my body that I could get I had to find out the reason that the makers of Shakeology felt it necessary to include prebiotics And probiotics in their product.

A prebiotic is a nutrient and not a bacteria.  They are specific nutrients that are in fruits, legumes and whole whole grain and certain consumable plants.  Their purpose as an ingredient in Shakeology is to stimulate the friendly bacteria that live in the digestive tract and make them more active and promote their growth.

A probiotic is actual friendly bacteria itself that live in the intestinal tract and aid in digesting food.  So a prebiotic is a nutrient that helps to promote a good environment for friendly bacteria necessary for intestinal health and a probiotic is the actual friendly bacteria.  That’s the difference, simple as that.

Shakeology contains both Prebiotics And Probiotics.  the prebiotics in Shakeology come primarily from the yacon root which is similar to a sweet potato and contains the highest natural form of oligofructose (fructooligosaccharide) or FOS as it is known.  It’s not cheap, but it’s not supposed to be.  it’s supposed the best for your body and it is.

The probiotics in Shakeology are 6 different strains in total: Bifobacterium longum, lactobacillus acidophilus DDS-1, lactobacillus acidophilus, lactobacillus bulgaris, Lactobacillus casei, and Streptococcus thermophilus.  No other product offers the same extreme quality of probiotic ingredients.  Once again it’s not cheap to be the best, but since we only get one body and one chance to be as healthy as possible, it’s well worth it to stick with only the best.

If you had questions about prebiotic and probiotic ingredients i hope this helps to clear it up for you.  These and the other ingredients in Shakeology has made of world of difference in my overall health over the past 10 months since I began using it as a dietary supplement every day.  I made it a point to learn everything I could about it before I put my trust and my health in Shakeology.  If you have any questions about Shakeology or the ingredients please contact me and I’ll answer your questions.

  1. Hi Getfitandlean,
Thanks for the info, I think the question says it all. I am a college student who lives in a dorm that does not allow blenders. I think its dumb but its the rule. Could I make shakeology shakes without a blender?
    Good Job!

You can most definitely make Shakeology without a blender. If fact a lot of people use the shaker cup that comes with your order and never use a blender. The only difference is that a blender can make more of a malt or shake consistency and the shaker cup makes more of a chocolate milk consistency. Either way it taste great, it’s just a matter of preference and what you get use to.
